Fayose’s Supporters Criticize Ekiti PDP Caretaker Committee

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) faced criticism on Saturday over the appointment of a caretaker committee for the Ekiti State chapter of the party.

On Friday, the NWC, through a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, announced a 19-member caretaker committee for Ekiti State PDP, led by Dare Adeleke, following the expiration of the State Working Committee’s tenure.

However, in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, Lere Olayinka, media aide to former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, criticized the NWC’s decision, describing it as an “exercise of discretion” by the party’s leadership, which he said does not preclude others from exercising their own discretion.

Olayinka stated that Fayose’s supporters would also exercise their discretion in response to the NWC’s actions. He said, “The NWC has exercised its discretion, but that does not mean others cannot exercise theirs. We respect their decision, but in due time, we will also exercise our own rights as stakeholders in the party.”

He further added, “While the NWC’s decision is within their authority, the consequences of our own actions will be evident in the future when this current NWC may no longer be in office.”
