Following the tragic passing of Afrobeats singer Mohbad, previously recorded videos depicting alleged bullying and physical assault have re-emerged. In response, Naira Marley and Sam Larry have vehemently denied any involvement in the incidents, despite accusations of complicity.
Lagos Police Authorities Uncover Evidence Linking Naira Marley and Sam Larry to Mohbad’s Assault and Cyberbullying
In the wake of the mysterious death of Afrobeats star Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, the Lagos police authorities have revealed the existence of evidence implicating Naira Marley (Abdulazeez Fashola) and Sam Larry (Samson Balogun) in alleged acts of cyberbullying, physical abuse, threats to life, and assault against the late artist.
Mohbad’s demise last month was shrouded in suspicion, with previously circulated videos resurfacing, depicting instances of alleged bullying and assault involving the singer. Many had accused Naira Marley and Sam Larry of complicity in these incidents, a charge that the duo vehemently denied.
During a press briefing on Friday, Lagos State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa revealed that despite their denials, electronic and credible witness evidence linked Naira Marley and Sam Larry to the assault against Mohbad.
“While Abdulazeez Fashola (Naira Marley) and Samson Balogun (Sam Larry) denied allegations of criminal involvement in Mohbad’s death and provided alibis to exonerate themselves from the events that occurred between September 10 and 12, 2023, there is substantial electronic evidence and credible witnesses that connect them to acts of cyberbullying, threats to life, assault causing harm, and behavior likely to incite a breach of the peace against the deceased during his lifetime,” Commissioner Owohunwa stated during the briefing.
Additionally, Owohunwa identified an auxiliary nurse, Ms. Feyisayo Ogedengbe, as the prime suspect in Mohbad’s death. He disclosed that five suspects had been identified, arrested, detained, and questioned regarding their alleged roles in the series of events leading up to the singer’s death.
According to Commissioner Owohunwa, Ogedengbe administered multiple potent injections to Mohbad on September 12, comprising Tetanus Toxoid, paracetamol, and Cetrazone—an antibiotic. These injections were administered at the singer’s residence. Ogedengbe was deemed unqualified to perform the role of a home nurse and carried out her actions in a non-clinical environment.
